Conference of Committees

The 2015 Fall Meeting and Conference of Committees was a great success. At the meeting we learned about several new and exciting opportunities at FRF/FPMA including the potential sale of some of our currently owned properties and the importance of our multiple brands.

Health Care Exchange: We cheered the news about the roll out of the first of its kind private health exchange for our members. read more

Legislative Agenda: The board approved the 2016 legislative agenda. Look for a copy of it with details in the coming weeks.

Rick McAllister’s Retirement: Sadly, for us, at this meeting we also said goodbye to our friend and longtime President & CEO Rick McAllister. Rick is only the fourth person to hold the dual titles of President & CEO in the 78-year history of FRF. In light of Rick’s departure at the end of this year we also selected his successor. The executive committee made the recommendation and the board approved our next leader. Beginning January 1, 2016, Randy Miller will assume the role of President & CEO of the Florida Retail Federation. read more

Committee and Council Meetings: Meetings were held leading up to the board meeting. Committees and councils discussed industry issues and legislative concerns and their reports were presented to the full board.

Legislator of the Year Award: announced that Senator Garret Richter (D-23, Naples) and Representative Jim Boyd (D-71, Bradenton) were selected as the 2015 FRF & FPMA Legislators of the Year at the FRF/FPMA Fall Meeting held in Naples in front of a room full of board members and industry leaders. Both legislators were recognized for their ongoing support of retailers and the overall retail community and their efforts to push for legislation that enhance and protect the industry. read more

Chairman’s Award: Chairman Sandy Fortin announced that Florida Grocers Association Interim Executive Director Tom Jackson was named as the 2015 FRF Chairman’s Award winner in front of a room full of board members and retail industry leaders. read more
